On ne change pas

All black outfit May 15, 2018

I might have a small passion for pyjamas. Nope, I hate sleeping in them, but I love wearing them as daywear.

Let's get one thing clear: this is not a pyjama. It's just two separate pieces, happen to work together perfectly. I am not joking. This is another one of the all black looks I love wearing, especially when I feel "I don't have anything to wear". You all know those days - the wardrobe is literally falling appart, yet you have nothing to wear. You have clothes and accessories stashed in every single corner of the house, yet nothing works. We've all been there.

My answer? A refined all-black look with a quirky accessorisation. No matter how snobbish it may sound, it does work better with statement accessories. I prefer branded ones. Perhaps fashion's biggest current obsession is logomania, meaning logos need to be shown at all times. Not that I truly give a damn about logos, but some pieces are sooo damn beautiful I just need them in my life. They can simply elevate any outfit. ANY outfit. My choice is Gucci - since Alessandro Michele is in charge of the creative process, I fell iremediably in love with the brand. Saving and investing in pieces signed by him makes me feel like I'm wearing a piece of art. Not that they are unique, but there's a special feeling to them. The good, the bad and the kitsch, they all reunite under Gucci. It's just endless fun, and that's what I truly love about it.

I'll drop the links to the (apparent) deux-pieces I'm wearing, make sure you own something similar. It will save you many hours of deciding "what to wear tonight". You can accessorise it as you wish, depending on the occasion of course. Easy breezy.

P.S.: I just loooove the white pipping on the trousers and shirt - the pyjamalesque detail I need for a cool, laid-back look.

Kisses,

Carla

P.P.S.: I know many of you have unwanted clothes you have no idea what to do with anymore, therefore I suggest you start an online shop. I am currently selling on eBay and Depop, but in the future I will probably look to sell on my own website. For more information on how to open your own online boutique, visit boutiquesetup.com, it's a super cute site containing all the information you will need. Enjoy!

How to Wear the Trench Coat

Brigitte Bardot Inspo September 15, 2017

The trench coat is a quintessential piece that can't miss from your Fall wardrobe. British by definition, it is a super versatile piece that goes with literally everything - it elevates your styles and adds that little touch of mystery that we all love and adore. It protects you from the stubborn wind while making you look like the main character of a spy movie...what's not to love?

You probably remember my updated trench from of my previous blog posts, but today I'm here to talk about what actually goes...underneath the trench coat. Ok, literally everything but we are girls so let's be feminine. A short, high-waisted skirt, A-shaped, in a bright colour is a smart, safe and even...sexy choice (it flatters most of the body types too). Pair it with a fun shirt - button it al the way up, add a ribbon or a brooch to it for a personalised touch and don't be afraid to add heels (mine is from VIPshop). Not sky-high ones (I never liked those) - they will take your look in the wrong direction - opt for kitten heels instead. Kitten heels are cute, fun, comfortable and look ah-mazing! For this look, I added one of my fav accessories: a baker boy cap with military influences and a vintage straw bag.

For me, this look captures the classical British vibe - ok, with some French influences and some flight attendant chicness added to it - the type of look I am rockin' during Fall, when leaves start turning gold, when the apples start falling from the trees and nostalgia hits you like a brick...that time when you want to sit in a cosy place reading vintage books and sipping a green jasmine tea while listening to the song of the rain and the angry, howling wind.

Do a Small Change - It Will Make Your Life Better

Brigitte Bardot Inspo September 13, 2017

Sometimes a simple change can mean the world. A small, simple change in your look or daily routine can truly make a difference in making you feel more better, more confident...making you feel more "yourself".

I used to have a fringe few years back but then I felt it was annoying to look after so I let my hair grow. This year, I decided to make a change: have my fringe back and return to my natural hair colour - a dark blonde (that's going slow and I might give up). Having this fringe made me love and trust in myself more. As stupid as it sounds, this little change brought some huge changes with it. I feel more inspired than ever in my style choices, in my life in general, more ambitious and I feel like I am my true self again - some sort of inner connection that simply clicked.

If you feel like you're losing connection with your inner self, just do something you really want to but are afraid of. This summer was truly amazing for me, my long holiday back home in Romania made me think and feel different. I got over my (part)unfounded fear of heights, my hair stylist made me feel like a million bucks, I spent some time in the wild (at night too) and I simply realised - once again - that those little victories that make you feel so alive, those are the things that make life simpler, smarter, more beautiful. The rest doesn't even matter. But we got to dress ourselves...so if we have to, we must do it well (just like everything else).

In today's outfit, I'm rockin' a sailor meets French inspired blouse made from a soft and silky fabric that simply works with everything, a vintage double breasted blazer, mom jeans, a vintage leather bag that I have since highs chool, velvet mules and a gorgeous super smooth silk scarf. The top and scarf are from VIPshop - I really suggest you take a look on their website, they have high quality items at affordable prices with really cool designs!
