How To: Layer Like a Pro

September 20, 2016

For those of you who live in the UK, layering is something you can't live without. For the rest of you, is something you have to learn not to live without. Now that it's autumn, it's the perfect time to start mastering it.

I built my outfit around this cosy midi sweater dress from ZAFUL, you can find it here. It's perfect to be dressed up or down, depending on your preferences. You can pair it with leather shorts, fishnet tights and black boots for a rock inspired outfit. The fabric is soft and thick, it really keeps you warm and the dress itself (more like an oversized top on me) is an extremely versatile item. Get yours now - here.

Why do I love layering:

1. cold mornings, hot days, sunny days, rainy nights -  there is only one way - layering
2. you can get from day to night by taking some of the layers off and adding few accessories
3. it looks really cool
4. you can layer minimalist pieces for a minimal look or printed pieces for a eccentric one
5. it's timeless

How to layer like a pro:

1. Think about the effect you wish to create: choose colours and textures that work together
2. Choose at least one piece in a neutral colour (black, white, earthy tones or greys)
3. Make sure to choose a statement piece: either your coat/jacket, either the shoes. Or even both as long as they work together.
4. Use versatile accessories
5. Pay attention to the lengths: don't choose long, oversized items if you're petite or plus size, paired with heavy fabrics - the effect won't be the one desired.

During the day, opt for a natural makeup that emphasises your healthy looking skin (we all love that glow), but have a dark lipstick prepared for evening time: it will change everything. A must: the oversized earrings!

Pointy lace-up suede shoes, perfect for a day at school/work and for a night out.

I love wearing metallic textures/sequins during the day, but it also look fantastic at night.

Lots of love,
