One Skirt, Three Summer Looks

Carla Vadan June 30, 2018

I am counting down the days to my holiday, have I mentioned that? Packing has always been a problem, and my father makes sure to call me before leaving to tell me not to bring my entire wardrobe with me. That would be impossible, unless I would hire a truck. Or two.

Altohugh more than sure I will have at least four or five suitcases with me, I am making this blog post for those of you for whom there is still hope.

Creating 3 entirely different looks has never been easier. What you'll need? Essentials. Everybody takes few swimsuits on a summer holiday, and for sure you'll take a skirt too.

I will show how, with my new beloved skirt from Zaful, and three of their swimsuits I created three really cool, easy looks.

Also, I have some discount vouchers for you so make sure to apply them at checkout:

Use code " ZFbunny " for all orders with over 25USD (that's $) to save 3USD, for orders over 50USD to save 6USD and for orders over 100USD save 12USD.

1. Colours & Prints

Don't be afraid of colour and of mixing prints. If you don't do it in the summer, then when in the world are you gonna do it? Now's the time. I mixed green with pastel purple (that's how it is in real life), pastel blue, pastel pink and a pair of bold earrings. Floral prints and dots? Always! You can wear this look anywhere from beach to a summer party or simply out for a coffee.

I am wearing: Zaful Floral Skirt | Zaful Polka Dot Swimsuit | Zaful Cropped Jacket | Zara Earrings | Topshop Suede Mules

2. La bohème

A plain white two-piece swimsuit (yaaaas to high cut & high waisted bikins), paired with an oversized see-through top, precious statement earrings and metallic sandals featuring block heel for that vintage feel. You can wear it anywhere! Even grocery shopping. In the South of France, of course.

I am wearing: Zaful Floral Skirt | Zaful White Swimsuit | Zara Top | Tk Maxx Sandals

3. Hidden Details

I really wanted an asymmetrical swimsuit, and this is the perfect one. It's a bit challenging to put it on with all the lace-up details, but I must admit, I love it! Love the muted tones and the fact there are actually two tones. It almost looks nude, expect is not. This beauty, plus the wrap skirt, a silk blazer and a pair of flat, comfy mules is downright perfection. Yas to long summer days. And white nights.

Zaful Summer Wishlist

From left to right: Bodycon Dress (so 90's) | Ribbed Top | Cami Dress | Leaf Print Set

The game has changed, I mean the weather. It's nice and sunny and that makes my soul feel at peace - I am dreaming of unique experiences, making the most of my time, working on a cool new project (you will hear more soon) and creating memories every single day.

I know you guys won't stay in front of your PC's and laptops forever now that it's summer, so I will keep it short: I checked Zaful on their app and realised my basket has now reached 88 items. I believe it's time to go through them and make an order, finally. It's a pain to decide, but I put together a small list of some of the most beautiful, summery, magical pieces for you - summer shopping made easy.

My current obsessions are warm colours, especially yellow and a particular shade of warm yet rich orange, minimal pieces made of soft, light fabrics just like the ones below. I couldn't find the accessories I wanted or the shoes on the website for now, but take a high quality, hand-made straw hat, some espadrilles, and you're good to go with any of these beauties below. Enjoy!

Love,

Carla

Casual Thursday

The Christmas countdown has officially begun! Running errands is what I am up to, since the home decorating episode it's now over. The tree is up, all the decorations are in place, even our front door is adorned with a Christmassy wreath. What more could we ask for? But the food isn't going to cook itself, so we're busy finding all the right ingredients in order to cook our fav Christmas dishes - some traditional (Romanian), some modern and I am really excited, I just love this time of the year!

For this, I need warm and comfortable clothes take me feel cosy and happy. And because London is all about horrible weather - it's dark and gloomy from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to sleep of course - I opted for some neutrals, some black and a bit of navy. I am wearing my new favourite coat, this beautiful faux shearling from METISU - I love it because I can sit anywhere with it without getting dirty, wet or cold, it's oversized so I feel myself in it; you probably know by now I love oversized clothes in which I can breathe and feel comfortable, instead of tight ones that make me feel self-aware all the time. Above all, let it rain and be all humid, because this blankety coat is got me covered - it protects me from rain (yasss!) and basically feels like a cocoon - definitely a winter's favourite!

The soft jumper (one of the softest I've ever had), asymmetric skirt and beanie are all from ZAFUL. They have nice stuff on their Christmas sale 2017 and let me tell you a secret: the beanie is all lined with pink faux fur, which makes it incredibly warm and...soft! That makes me think -why do we need some much softness in the winter? It's funny, isn't it? The pom pom is faux fur too - don't worry, I don't wear real fur. I am a vegetarian for ten years now and definitely love fur when it's alive and kicking, on cute animals, not when it's dead and yells suffering.

So if you guys look for a nice, warm, comfy & chic outfit to do your last Christmas shopping in (or any shopping in the winter for that matter), go for something similar. You will enjoy every little moment without feeling discomfort or being cold. 💗

Make sure to check both METISU and ZAFUL for more lovely items, and their Christmas deals. There will be many after Christmas sales on Zaful so make sure to keep an eye open.

How To - All Red Everything

All red November 30, 2017

Christian, my husband, asked me why do I need two bags for this look. I answered promptly: "on the belt bag I am keeping all my coins so when I go to the charity shops I have them handy". No matter how many bags I would wear it probably won't be enough, most certainly you will see me carrying something else in a non-glamorous nylon bag, one of the foldable ones, just because the size/amount of the stuff you buy is always inversely proportionate to the size of your bag. Amen to that.

But I am not here to talk about that. You probably remember I'm going through my Red Period, no matter how funny that might sound - just like Picasso went through with his Blue one. Now if you're a bit cultured you know what I am talking about without Google searching this. Just joking. I love red, and I wanted to create a look like this for sometime now but couldn't find the right items in the right shade of red (the shade is important, otherwise you might look like an oversized road sign which would be lame). I found the jeans in a perfect shade of crimson red in H&M, and my crimson jumper on ZAFUL, along with the camel coat, velvet bag and sock boots. My secret, in wearing a colour from head-to-toe, is "calming" it down (especially if it's a bright one) with some neutrals. It doesn't mean they have to be boring: my velvet bag in a silvery shade (let's pretend it's grey) just works perfectly, together with the warmer camel of the coat. That way, you don't look like a giant road sign, you just look sophisticated and cool. That is my hones opinion.

Again, choosing quality fabrics with textures that work together, or shades of the same colour that go with each other is a must if you want to nail this trend down. I really love it, I would wear even in ten years from now, no matter the trends. For me, this look is feminine, classical and above all, a power look that you can wear anywhere, any time you want. Enjoy!

Back to Art School

Artist November 28, 2017

Because I've always done what I wanted, stayed true to myself and my principles, I studied Fine Art - both in high school and Uni. Those were really fun times, there was this immense freedom of dressing however you liked, however you wanted, however you felt like. And no one was there to laugh, point fingers or discriminate. We were one like one big awkward family, even with the ones we didn't speak to, even with the strangers.

Sometimes, I need to remind myself of those times. Why would you care about anyone when putting clothes on? We all need to put clothes on, just to be able to go outside. Honestly, I don't give a damn about what my neighbours are wearing, or the people on the street. Or whoever I am meeting. They are all usually dressed in sad tones of black & grey, as if the rainbow sunk into the ocean and drowned. I don't care if the women are wearing clothes that show their bodies and try to look provocative so the guys on the scaffoldings can whistle at them when they pass by and then complain the guys are such pigs when actually, their first intent was of being noticed for their features. Which is more than sad, but I understand that some people are limited and it is definitely not my job to try and change them. After all, if they'd all be cool who will we be making fun of when we gather with our friends for stories and drinks? No one! That's right.

Sometimes I love to wear clothes that hide my body, but make me feel great! Not that I have complexes (ok, I am not as thin as I want to be but that doesn't stop me from wearing what I want, I am a size 8 after all) but simply because they're cosy, different, fun, super comfortable and look really cool. Wearing socks with everything has always been my thing, so here I am once again sportin' my new glitter socks with the fluffiest mules ever. Now I'm really curious - what's the first thing you have in mind when creating an outfit? Is it the comfort, aesthetics, chromatic or...the feel of it? Comment below 💌
